Hanging in Ryan Dorchesters office at West Virginia is a bachelors degree in history, so its no surprise the third-year director of player personnel turned to the American Revolution to describe the Mountaineers unique recruiting approach since joining the Big 12 in 2012. Asics Shoes Cheap Australia . Asics Shoes Australia Online Asics Shoes Wholesale .Y. -- Buffalo Bills coach Doug Marrone has drawn on his Syracuse connections once again by hiring Rob Moore to take over as receivers coach. . This should be celebrated because it will not always be this way. With the amount of money given to players by their clubs these days, it is a wonder that so many of those teams allow the sport to continue to take away many of their assets so they can play for a different team in the middle of their season. null ' ' '

NASSAU, Bahamas -- If there was any trepidation about hitting full, powerful shots or spending too much time doing so, Tiger Woods wasnt letting on Sunday afternoon as the wind whipped across the driving range at Albany Golf Club -- where he was the only player practicing. Adidas Superstar Sale .With his return to competitive golf after a 15-month absence looming this week at the Hero World Challenge, Woods was busy testing equipment -- and looking pretty good doing so.Im not dead, he quipped. Woods, 40, arrived in the Bahamas on Saturday and played nine holes, then spent some two-and-half hours Sunday on the driving range and in a testing center using a device called TrackMan to gauge various distances and launch angles -- a process he said is more daunting now that his longtime sponsor, Nike, is no longer making golf clubs, and Woods has an array of choices. So many manufacturers sent Woods clubs to try that my head was spinning. For now, he is sticking with his Nike irons and experimenting with various woods -- it was a TaylorMade driver, 3-wood and 5-wood and Sunday -- and he dropped a bit of news when he said hes using a Bridgestone golf ball this week.?The most important thing is the ball, he said. Once you find a ball, then you can work around everything else. The ball is No. 1. The most important club in the bag is the ball.Woods had no trouble carrying drives over 300 yards, shaping shots in both directions with his various clubs while showing no pangs of discomfort. Of course, its Sunday, not the opening round on Thursday of an otherwise low-key, 18-player tournament that benefits the Tiger Woods Foundation. Its a year-ending cash grab for many stars of the game, and how they fare here is of little consequence. There are world ranking points at stake, and a $3.5 million purse with $1 million going to the winner. But for Woods -- who in his absence has slipped to 879th in the world -- this is a big deal. The 14-time major champion has not competed since August 2015 at the Wyndham Championship, where he tied for 10th. Earlier he had missed cuts in three consecutive major championships. And he would later undergo two back procedures that forced him to the sideline, causing all kind of speculation about his future in the game.According to the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook, Woods has the worst odds to win the tournament, at 40-1, of anyone in the 18-person field.Woods admitted he will be nervous. But Im nervous for every tournament I play in, whether its after a layoff, or six in a row, or a major, he said. I care. If I care, Im nervous. And its good to be that way. To have that nervous energy and channel it into aggression, into focus, concentration, thats good stuff. If I wasnt nervous, that would mean I didnt care. I dont want to be out there flat.Woods said he understands the thinking that he shouldnt care, that just being back after an extended absence is enough.I get that, and that part is great too, he said. Im out here playing and competing. That part is really neat. Then there is that part of me that is the competitor who wants to beat these guys. I want to compete. Some seven weeks ago, Woods announced he was not ready to do that. He at first committed to the Safeway Open in California, then three days before the tournament decided to pull out because he described his game as vulnerable and not ready to compete against the best in the world. That set off a new wave of doubts about his game and his future, and while Woods said he badly wanted to play that week, it was a good decision in the end. The competitor inside me wanted to go so badly and was itching to go. I had been playing at home. I thought only if I have a few shots, its good enough to get it around. I had played feeling worse. But whats the point in rushing back when Ive waited over a year to begin with?Ive waited this long, its not going to hurt to wait just this much longer.Woods caddie, Joe LaCava, who was walking the Albany course on Sunday, twice went to Florida to work with Woods since the Safeway withdrawal, mostly to get Woods in tournament mode and off a golf cart. His instructor, Chris Como, has also been there. Two weeks ago, Woods and LaCava played rounds on four consecutive days, walking -- which seems simple enough until Woods explains he had not been doing that enough. Its weird to say, but I have to get my walking legs, he said. Its a 5-mile walk. You forget what it feels like to be in golf shoes versus tennis shoes. To be on an uneven lie versus a flat lie. I can walk for two or three hours on a treadmill and its not the same as walking on a golf course. Its so different, the standing around (between shots). The rhythm of playing in a golf cart versus walking and playing. I had forgotten that because I had been away for over a year. Joey really helped me ... normal tournament talk, I had to get used to that again. This is a big week for Woods every year. The event began in 1999 at the urging of his late father, Earl, and is a big fundraiser for his foundation. There are numerous sponsor obligations -- Hero has one more year on its deal after the 2016 event -- as well as all the attention his game is going to receive.Im ready to go, he said. Cheap Adidas Superstar . Walcott is available for Saturdays home match against Southampton as Arsenal looks to extend its two-point lead at the top of the Premier League. The Gunners are currently the second highest scorers in the league but Wenger insists Walcott will add something extra to his team. Adidas Superstar Clearance . -- Arizona knocked off some quality opponents, rolled over a few overmatched ones and grinded out victories even when things didnt go so well. . With the short-handed Warriors needing help from someone -- anyone -- to stop a three-game skid, ONeal returned from right knee and groin injuries that had sidelined him for four games and put up season highs with 18 points and eight rebounds. It was just enough to help lift Golden State to a 102-101 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night. Every week, well mine the waiver wire for lesser-owned assets to help your squad, whether you favor dynasty or the redraft format -- and well also toss in some tips for DFS players out there. Categorized by position, the players are ranked in descending order by ownership percentage in ESPN leagues.Well also include some former go-to fantasy assets who may be overvalued -- in the short or long term -- for one reason or another.A journeyman center is reuniting with Alex Ovechkin in Washington, the second line is getting the job done in Boston, and a reason why you should care about an untested goaltender in Philly.ForwardsAntoine Roussel, LW, Dallas Stars Ownership percentage: 26.5Come for Roussels perennially generous PIM collection, stay for his recent uptick in production. Notorious for spending an inordinate number of minutes in the box, Roussel has also lit up the scoreboard of late, riding a six-game point streak with three goals and five assists. No he didnt do this all on his own; hes been skating on a scoring line with top center Tyler Seguin.Ryan Spooner, C/LW, Boston Bruins Ownership percentage: 17.0If unable to exploit David Krejci during his current hot streak, instead consider the centers linemate. The Spooner-Krejci-David Backes trio has been the Bruins best during this latest run of three wins, with all three also seeing minutes on the clubs top power play.Conor Sheary, LW/RW, Pittsburgh Penguins Ownership percentage: 11.7Playing on a scoring line with Sidney Crosby certainly packs its perks. Since returning from an eye injury, Sheary has two goals and three assists (as well as a plus-six rating) through four contests. The 24-year-old sophomore is also seeing a modest increase in ice time.Teuvo Teravainen, LW, Carolina Hurricanes Ownership percentage: 11.3The forward trio of Teravainen, center Jordan Staal, and talented rookie Sebastien Aho (ownership percentage: 4.8) has provided a glint of silvered lining during an otherwise dim run in Carolina, combining for five goals and eight assists in just two games. Just make sure Staal is in the lineup after suffering a (minor?) hand injury on Saturday.Jay Beagle, C, Washington Capitals Ownership percentage: 0.6The latest shuffle in Washington sees Beagle ascend to the centermans position alongside Alex Ovechkin (and Andre Burakovsky). The long-time Capital has sparkled -- relatively and briefly, mind you -- with Ovechkin in the past, and deserves consideration as a short-term plug on your own season-long roster, or as a cheap asset in DFS.Anthony Mantha, RW, Detroit Red Wings Ownership percentage: 2.1The 22-year-old was impressive enough in his season debut for the Red Wings on Saturday, logging nearly 19 minutes, including more than five with the extra skater. With eight goals and two assists in 10 AHL games in 2016-17, the former first-round draft selection (2013) is slated to compete on a line with Gustav Nyquist and Darren Helm, and the secondary power-play unit, versus the Lightning Tuesday. Mantha was a goal-scoring terror in the QMJHL, and merits additional attention in dynasty and keeper leagues.DefensemenJason Demers, Florida Panthers Ownership percentage: 10.8Since the former Shark and Star has a history of producing in bunches, were taking greater notice of his recent run of six points -- including three power-play assists -- in seven games. Furthermore, Demers logged well over 24 minutes against the Islanders on Saturday, so he can boost that category as well.Michael Del Zotto, Philadelphia Flyers Ownership percentage: 10.1Back in tthe fray after missing the start to 2016-17 with a bad knee, Del Zotto has quietly collected three points, 20 hits, and seven blocked shots in only four games. Cheap Adidas Superstar Trainers Uk. . Paired with Shayne Gostisbehere at even strength, Del Zotto might also soon be rewarded with additional minutes with the man advantage as well.Derek Forbort, Los Angeles Kings Ownership percentage: 2.1Warranting attention in fantasy leagues that prize non-scoring categories, Forbort is making his presence felt in Los Angeles. Paired with top blueliner Drew Doughty, the 24-year-old rookie leads the Kings in blocked shots (34), and ranks second in PIM. He also has 34 hits to his credit. Theres reason the club drafted this imposing young blueliner 15th overall in 2010.GoaltendersJonathan Bernier, Anaheim Ducks Ownership percentage: 4.9Playing behind John Gibson, Bernier has put up better numbers as the Ducks backup, particularly of late. While were not predicting the latter will usurp the former on Anaheims depth chart anytime soon, coach Randy Carlyle wont be miserly with offering Bernier ample opportunities should this trend continue.Keith Kinkaid, New Jersey Devils Ownership percentage: 2.0As with the Gibson/Bernier duo, Cory Schneider is in little danger of losing his standing as the Devils preferred starter for the long term. However, Kinkaid has been excellent in limited action this month, including a 2-0 record, .967 save percentage and 1.00 goals-against average. The 27-year-old is worth keeping in mind as an inexpensive daily fantasy asset with great potential upside when pegged to start.Anthony Stolarz, Philadelphia Flyers Ownership percentage: 0.8The lower-body injury to Michal Neuvirth -- whos projected to miss weeks -- combined with this seasons inferior play from Steve Mason, means we could see Stolarz make his NHL debut sooner rather than later. The 22-year-old has been better than good with the AHL Phantoms, boasting a .927 save percentage and 2.39 goals-against average. Many pundits believe this former OHL star with the London Knights could be the real deal.Lowered expectationsMatt Duchene, C/RW, Colorado Avalanche Ownership percentage: 90.6Concussion-like symptoms are always concerning, and theres little point in trying to predict when a player will return from a head injury. Hopefully Duchene isnt out for long. In the meanwhile, Mikhail Grigorenko is benefiting from an increase in quality ice time on a line with Gabriel Landeskog and Nathan MacKinnon.Michael Cammalleri, LW, New Jersey Devils Ownership percentage: 41.1Cammalleri is projected to miss his third straight game for personal reasons on Tuesday. If possible, shelve the experienced sniper until we get a better understanding of whats going on.Dennis Seidenberg, D, New York Islanders Ownership percentage: 27.6The veteran blueliner could be out for weeks after suffering a broken jaw this weekend. On the upside for the Islanders, defenseman Travis Hamonic is back in the lineup after missing three games with a suspected thumb injury. Hamonic was originally tapped to sit out about a month.Nino Niederreiter, LW/RW, Minnesota Wild Ownership percentage: 15.2The pending return of Zach Parise (foot) means Niederreiter might not be long for his role on a line with center Eric Staal and Charlie Coyle. However, its worth noting that Parise is initially expected to compete on an even-strength unit with Erik Haula and Jason Pominville. Stay tuned. ' ' '

The performances have been bereft and deficient of any confidence, planning and aggression and a ranking of seven is not inaccurate. Afridi has probably grimaced a few times after his sides recent T20 performances While the form of several players is an issue, it is widely agreed that the 15-man squad is more or less the best the selectors could have chosen, although the route taken to achieve this goal may have been rather circuitous. The picking and dropping of Khurram Manzoor and vice versa for Ahmed Shehzad being the prime example of this painful approach to build a squad which, on paper, has some merit. With Indian pitches known for aiding spin, it is a fact that there are still issues with Pakistans spin department. A spin attack heavily reliant upon Shahid Afridi, an unproven Mohammad Nawaz and an out-of-sorts Imad Wasim hardly fills anyone with confidence. If we look at Pakistans Twenty 20 performances in previous World Cups, spin has played a massive and crucial part in their success. In addition there is the small matter of the absence of Pakistans spin hero of old, Saeed Ajmal, from whose absence the team has not recovered completely. Pakistan will have to do without Saeed Ajmal iin India Add to that the current ban on Mohammad Hafeezs bowling and one gets the impression that spin will not be Pakistans main weapon in this World Cup. Cheapest Adidas NMD. With Yasir Shah also cooling his heels on the back of an ICC ban, Pakistan will need to have Shahid Afridi firing and will pray and hope that the young back-up spinners will provide adequate back-up to the skipper in the spin department.Pakistans pace attack, however, is a completely different kettle of fish. Led by the superb and ever-improving Mohammad Amir and containing in-form pace aces Mohammad Irfan and Mohammad Sami, with the dangerous Wahab Riaz, the pace quartet has the ability of changing any game very quickly. If runs are put up on the board by the batsmen, Pakistans pace bowlers have the ability to defend any decent total. While the pace attack has variety and experience, with each member keenly aware of their role, the same cannot be said with any degree of confidence about Pakistans brittle batting line-up.If the shocking batting performances of late are any guide, Pakistan batsmen have the ability to render any good performance of the bowling attack and negate any advantage their hard work brings to the table. The bowling will only be useful if the team is capable of posting or chasing good totals.Mohammad Hafeezs questionable form, Ahmed Shehzads inability to rotate the strike, Shahid Afridis non-existent batting contributions and Shoaib Maliks on and off cameos, are all massive problems that Pakistan will have to contend with. The issue will be compounded on flat pitches if none of these batsmen fire and while Umar Akmal and Sarfraz Ahmed have been great fighters of late, they cannot be relied upon to rescue the team every time. Mohammad Amir will be a key man for Pakistan in the World T20 If the fairytale is to come true, a spell of magic is necessary to provide the batting performances which the bowlers will gladly defend or use to their advantage. The truth is that Pakistans batting has consistently failed lately and in a very tough group, and facing some quality bowling attacks, if the batting continues to misfire, Pakistan may well fail to progress in the group stages. If recent performances are any guide then purely from the teams point of view and considering their poor form, getting out of the group may well be the only success Pakistan can hope for. However despite the chaos, confusion and poor form, Pakistan cricket teams have the ability to astound and surprise. Their best performances are usually saved in the face of adversity. The class of 2016 may not be among the favourites at the World Twenty20, but write this team off at your peril.Sky Sports is the only place you can watch all 35 games in 27 days of the 2016 ICC World T20. Or watch from £6.99 without a contract, on NOW TV. NEW YORK -- U. Wholesale Nike Zoom .S. Open rain delays at Arthur Ashe Stadium will be no more by 2017. The Grand Slam tournaments centre court could be covered by a retractable roof as soon as the 2016 tournament, but more likely the following year, U.S. Tennis Association officials said Thursday. As the mens final was delayed to Monday each of the last five years, they had insisted a roof wasnt yet feasible financially or structurally. A decade after the USTA started studying the issue and three years after architectural firm Rossetti began researching the project, the price tag and the technology are finally workable. The construction will cost about $100 million, down from earlier projections of $200 million. The U.S. Open becomes the last of the four major tournaments to cover up. The main stadiums at Wimbledon and the Australian Open already have roofs, and the French Open is planning one. Flushing Meadows No. 2 stadium, Louis Armstrong, will eventually be covered, too. Someday the Grandstand, the third-largest court, may be, as well. The Ashe roof will be part of a broader, previously announced project to rebuild and expand other courts at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The total price tag is estimated at $550 million. The USTA must still receive final approvals from the city for the plans. The organization had commissioned three different studies over the years that determined a roof wasnt feasible. The last time the USTA made a request for proposals, in 2009, it did not select Rossetti, the original architect for Ashe. The firm "took it rather personally," said Danny Zausner, the tennis centres chief operating officer. "Behind the scenes, they worked on the project for free for a year to try to come up with a concept that no one else thought of," he said. When Rossetti presented its findings to USTA officials in 2010, they were intrigued. Still, the firm was a long way from solving the riddle of topping Ashe. As USTA executive director Gordon Smith put it: "It wasnt built for a roof, and the land conditions around it on the site are abysmal." "We had to find out how to support 5,000 tons of steel on soil that is mush," said Matt Rossetti, the firms head. Using lighter materials atop the stadium was considered, but that proved unworkable. The USTA was willing to remove some seats, though not the entire upper bowl. Technology innovations over the years helped in making what was once impossible possible, Rossetti said - in particular, computer modeling. But he estimated that 80 per cent of the shift simply came from the painstaking, time-consuming process of delving into different options. A big breakthrough occurred just six months ago, when the firm surmised that the roof could be supported by only eight columns. At one point, the prediction was 32 -- and there wasnt space for that at the tennis centre. It was only two months ago that Rossetti determined the eight columns would actually work. Meanwhile, the rain kept falling at the Open. This years mens final is slated for Monday from the start to spread out the tournament more and reduce the odds that Mother Nature wreaks havoc with the schedule. The streak of bad weather didnt speed up the goal of a roof, Zausner said, though it certainly reminded USTA officials why they wanted one. As recently as last years tournament, they were still left explaining why they couldnt do it. "I dont think it was as much pessimistic as frustrated," he said. Players vented about starting and stopping matches and quick turnarounds as officials tried to squeeze competition in after delays. They didnt want to hear about poor soil and prohibitive costs. "I can appreciate from their perspective: This isnt my problem. Fix it," Zausner said. The USTA lost TV revenue money. The fans, though, were still coming. "Even though were selling record tickets, is it building frustration from our fans and our broadcast partners? Theres no question," Zausner said. "But if we could have had this design five years ago and knew what we know today five years ago, Im sure we wouldve had a roof five years ago." The roof, made of a lightweight fabric, will take 5-7 minutes to close, though delays will last longer for drying the court. Zausner said the USTA couldnt learn much from Wimbledon and the Australian Open other than the best time for closing the roof, because the stadiums are so different. The Grandstand will move to the opposite corner of the complex, with capacity increased from 6,000 to 8,000 fans. Armstrong, which currently seats 10,000, will be replaced with a larger version that can hold 15,000. The construction will allow for more and improved concessions than the two 50-year-old stadiums currently support. New tournament and practice courts with additional seating also will be built so more fans can see the players in action; they could be complete as soon as next years Open. As of now, only a few dozen spectators can squeeze in a view of the practice courts through a fence. Walkways will be widened and esplanades created in an attempt to reduce the bottlenecks that frequently pile up between the main entrance and Ashe. The tennis centres capacity for each day session will increase from 40,000 to 50,000 people. The new Grandstand is scheduled to open by the 2015 Open and Armstrong by 18. Fans will see some of the work in progress; temporary bleachers likely will be used around the new Armstrong court at the midpoint of the two-year project. The USTA will fund the project through bonds and increased revenue; officials said ticket prices would not be raised to pay for it. A gap between the roof and stands will let in fresh air, and the stadium will be climate controlled. The challenge is to keep conditions similar for the players with the roof open and closed. "I dont particularly like going from indoors to outdoors to indoors. Its also tough," defending champion Andy Murray said Wednesday at the Western & Southern Open outside Cincinnati. ANGERS, France -- Wearing the yellow jersey, Peter Sagan considered stopping at a cafe.Hardly pedaling, the overall leaders in the Tour de France spent most of Mondays third stage chatting to one another and riding at such a leisurely pace that they could have fit right in on a town bike path.It was a very relaxed day for us. We went slow. It was nice, said Sagan, who playfully bumped shoulders with some of the other riders just to keep things interesting. I was thinking one moment we were going to take the coffee like old time. The morning caffeine didnt kick in until the very end of the lengthy and mostly flat 223.5-kilometer (139-mile) leg from Granville to Angers. That was when Mark Cavendish showed off his sprinting experience by edging German rival Andre Greipel in a photo finish.Having also won Saturdays opening stage at Utah Beach, it was Cavendishs second victory in this Tour and 28th overall. The British rider with Team Dimension Data matched five-time Tour champion Bernard Hinault for second on the all-time list behind Eddy Merckx, who had a record 34 stage wins at the Tour.To even be mentioned in the same sentence as Bernard Hinault is something that I couldnt even have dreamed of, Cavendish said. But Im never going to compare myself to him.On a very slightly uphill finish, Cavendish kept pedaling to the line while Greipel, who was ahead, put his head down a bit too early.Neither rider knew who won immediately.Greipel started celebrating, raising his left finger to the sky, but then quickly took it down. Cavendish clenched his fist briefly and then just fiddled with his bike computer until the victory was confirmed -- then started hugging his teammates.I normally know when I win or I lose. When I crossed the line, I kind of knew I got it today, Cavendish said. But I was quite lucky to just get him.On the winners podium, Cavendish was greeted by the 61-year-old Hinault, now at his final Tour in an ambassador role.Bryan Coquard of Frannce crossed third, while Sagan was fourth. Nike Nike Zoom Sale Uk. I just made one mistake and it was a kind of reflex to go into the biggest gear, Greipel said. If I had kept it in the gear I had then I think I would have made it.Sagan, the world champion from Slovakia who took the yellow jersey on Sunday, remained eight seconds ahead of Julian Alaphilippe of France and 10 seconds in front of Alejandro Valverde of Spain in the overall standings.Defending champion Chris Froome moved up one spot to fourth, 14 seconds behind Sagan.Cavendish clocked nearly six hours as the Tour moved out of the Normandy region over a southeasterly route that concluded in Angers, in the Anjou region of the Loire valley. The stage began on the Normandy coast. Nicknamed the Monaco of the north, Granville was built on a rock and is known for its casino.Angers is twinned with Austin, Texas, the home of Lance Armstrong.Armindo Fonseca, a French rider with the Fortuneo-Vital Concept team, attacked at the opening flag and established a lead of more than 10 minutes at one point. For much of the stage, the peloton rode at 33 kph (20 mph) -- well below the predicted time table, which was based on an average speed of 39-43 kph (24-27 mph).It was a rest day for everyone, Sagan said. Just the last 20-30 kilometers were hard.Taking advantage of the pelotons pace, French rider Thomas Voeckler attacked midway through the stage and quickly bridged the gap to join Fonseca in the lead. The duo was caught by the main pack with eight kilometers (5 miles) to go.Stage 4 Tuesday is the races longest, a slightly more challenging 237.5 (148-mile) leg from Saumur to Limoges. If the stage is shorter well be faster, Sagan said. Tomorrow will be a long day.The first mountain stage comes in Stage 5 on Wednesday in the Massif Central.---Andrew Dampf on Twitter: ' ' '

CHICAGO -- Between World Series Games 4 and 5, twin brothers hung out on a popular corner in the Old Town neighborhood. Cheap Nike Vapormax Uk . Edwin and Edward Bryant liked sports, McDonalds and flirting with girls. They were 17 years old. They were hanging in a group of kids crowded around the brick wall of an apartment building, across Evergreen Street from a parking lot. It was around 3:15 in the morning.A car drove west down Evergreen, at least one of the passengers holding a gun. They shot Edward first, in the chest and head, and he fell right where he was shot, by the wrought iron fence, seriously wounded but alive. Edwin started running, taking a right on Hudson. The car followed him, shooting him maybe 20 or 30 steps later, in the chest and back. (Police dont yet have suspects or a motive.) The car sped away. The phone calls began. Michael Horton, one of the coaches for Edwards Chicago Demons basketball team, woke up around 4 a.m., and as he decided whether to go back to sleep or get up and start his day, he saw the light flashing on his silenced phone. He rushed to the hospital.Edwin was dead on arrival, but Edward -- known to his friends as Ed -- hung on, fighting. His father waited inside the hospital. His mother refused to go in, so she sat on the ground surrounded by family. She didnt speak to anyone, alone in her grief. She waited for someone to come out and tell her if shed lost one son or two. Around 4:45 a.m., someone wheeled the boys grandmother out of the hospital with the news. Coach Horton stood about 10 feet away and couldnt hear the words. He didnt need to. He saw the twins mother collapse.SEVENTEEN PEOPLE DIED?this weekend in Chicago while the Cubs hosted three World Series games. It was the citys deadliest weekend of the year. Hernando Caster was shot on West Huron Street during the sixth inning of Game 3. He died 16 minutes after the game ended. Tyrice Anderson was 30. Martell Turner, who died five minutes after Anderson, was 25. Luis Corona was 19. Walter McCurry was 36. A 31-year-old man died in Humboldt Park, shot in the face. Fifteen minutes later, a man was killed on the South Side, but police couldnt immediately identify him. Another unidentified man died on the kitchen floor of a second-floor apartment. The youngest victim was 14. Hed been planning on running for student council. He died after Game 3, around the time the Wrigleyville bars were closing. He was helping his father move. His family, like the Bryant twins, lived in Garfield Park. Its almost everywhere around you, coach Horton says, sounding defeated and lost. Then it hits you, then its right back around you.Seventeen shot dead, 42 more wounded. Over and over, people close to the shootings have wondered if the enormous police presence outside Wrigley Field took away resources from the rest of the city, combining with the unseasonably warm weather to create a fertile scenario for violence. In a news conference, police officials denied that claim, but these are facts: Around the stadium, neon-vested officers stood shoulder to shoulder, creating a human barricade; and most nights on the block where the Bryant brothers were shot, there is a parked squad car, officers monitoring the corner where neighborhood kids hang out.The police car was not there Saturday night or early Sunday morning. The only neighborhoods in Chicago without a shooting were the Northwest and the far North Side, between Wrigley Field and the expensive north suburbs. The juxtaposed headlines lead to a delicate conversation, one difficult to describe in a way that feels accurate to everyone in Chicago. Most of the 621 people murdered in Chicago this year are black. Most Cubs fans are white, and with World Series tickets going for thousands of dollars, and with cover charges for bars around the stadium hitting a hundred dollars a head, the madness in Wrigleyville is a celebration for the wealthy. The Cubs fantasy bubble and the weekends violence are happening in separate worlds, which rarely overlap. There is a disconnect.Parts of the city suffered through the worst weekend of the year, while others celebrated the greatest weekend in a century.BOTH OF THE Bryant brothers played sixth-grade basketball at a youth center a quarter mile from where they were shot. On Tuesday morning, the day of Game 6, that teams coach, a man named Vince Carter, drove toward the corner where the boys were murdered. He and his fellow coaches have been meeting with their players, telling them lies about how things will be better -- but unsure of what else to say.Somewhere in between the grieving and counseling, Horton thought about the last time hed seen Edward, the brother he knew best. Theyd just returned from a tournament in Las Vegas, and a coach from North Dakota State called Horton, asking about the teams three big men. As they talked, Horton drove around the neighborhood and picked up Edward, so he could listen to the conversation on speakerphone. Horton could tell that Ed started to imagine a life beyond Chicago. His world was about to change, Horton said. He wont even get to live that out. Thats my last memory of him. This kid, he wont get a chance. He wont even get a chance. While Carter drove through the neighborhood on Tuesday, his phone rang. It was Shawn Harrington, whod coached basketball before he was shot two years ago while driving his daughter to school, a case of mistaken identity. He played on the Marshall High team featured in the famous documentary Hoop Dreams, and now hes trying to walk again. He wanted to check in with Carter, who has had a rough few days. The elephant in the room is they were out at 3 in the morning, Carter says. We need to stop finding ways to justify why people get shot.He pointed at the fence, where three or so bunches of deflated balloons sagged toward the ground, and dozens of burned-out votive candles and an empty pint of Patron formed the sad remnants of last nights vigil. So many shootings, he said, leave everyone desensitized, almost needing to forget that those numbers in the paper -- 17 dead in a weekend, or seven dead in a single night -- are all attached to families, to bedrooms with posters on the wall and computers logged into social media accounts, all of that a widening hole, taking not just the lives of the dead but the spirit of the living, in neighborhood after neighborhood, month after month. Carter doesnt blame the police for having a huge presence at Wrigley or for not having a squad car in its usual place, just as he doesnt want people to blame the Bryant boys for being out at 3 in the morning, acting like normal teenagers. Its still not their fault, Carter says, of both the cops and the victims. Were so quick to affix blame. Before returning to his youth center, Carter drove over to the other problem spot in the neighborhood, where the police also posts cars nightly. He turned down Cambridge Street, passing the row of houses on the right. Last night, a gunman shot down one of the side streets, accidentally hitting a little girl. Carter points at another child to his right, her mother calling after her, as if to say she could be next.Police cruisers park nightly on either end of the street. But the neighborhood is changing, with construction crews in hard hats walking past the sidewalk where Edward Bryant fell. At the intersection of Cambridge and Chicago, where one of the cops sits watch, there is a Lamborghini dealerships repair shop. A green sports car is visible through an open garage door. Michael Jordans son and ex-wife live a block or so away, Carter says. This is a gentrifying neighborhood, prime Cubs country. An exotic Italian car dealership a block or so from where an innocent child was caught in the crossfire. These worlds are both Chicago, next door and an unbridgeable ocean apart.Exactly, Carter says. There was the World Series and a murder record on the same weekend. There is an Intelligentsia coffee shop less than a half mile from where Edwin and Edward Bryant were shot.?There is a Chicago cheering for the Cubs tonight and another one burying its dead. There is a city struggling to reconcile those things. Nike Vapormax Uk Sale . -- Brandon Jennings made the most of his first game with the Detroit Pistons on Sunday night. Vapormax Cheap Sale . For the Wild it was their first win of the season and they now have a record of 1-1-2 while the Jets fall to 2-2. Jets start a six game home stand Friday with another divisional game, home to the Dallas Stars. OAKLAND, Calif. -- Manager John Gibbons watched his struggling Toronto Blue Jays fall behind early, hits some home runs to make things interesting, and give the runs right back. Gibbons didnt attempt to sugarcoat the 9-4 loss to the Oakland Athletics on Monday night afterward, either. "It was less than an inspiring game," he said. "We didnt play a very good game all the way around. We fell behind early, tried to hang around and they blew it open." After a long first inning, Esmil Rogers (3-5) didnt make it out of the fifth in his first career start against the As. He was tagged for a season-high eight runs -- six earned -- on nine hits in 4 1-3 innings. "He wasnt very good tonight," Gibbons said. "This team makes you throw them strikes." Rogers didnt record his first out until the 24th pitch he threw, and needed 35 in all to get out of the first already in a 4-0 hole. That made for a tough night regardless. "The stress is throwing 30-odd pitches in the first inning. I tried to bring it back bit they got me with two outs," he said. "It was my command. I didnt throw any of my pitches consistently for strikes. It was one of those days. Right now I am trying to do anything I can to win but I am still learning." Yoenis Cespedes homered and hit a two-run triple, Josh Reddick added a two-run double and had three RBIs, and the AL West-leading As (63-43) won their fourth straight and seventh in nine to move a season-best 20 games over .500, tied for best record in the AL with Tampa Bay. Edwin Encarnacion hit a two-run homer, while Adam Lind and Brett Lawrie each hit solo shots against A.J. Griffin (10-7), who retired the first 13 batters of the game before Linds one-out drive in the fifth. Lawrie homered leading off the sixth, and Encarnacion connected for his 29th of the year four batters later. But that wasnt enough against Griffin and Oaklands productive offence. The shaggy-haired Griffin, who went 7-1 last year as a rookie, gave up four runs and fourr hits, struck out five and walked two in seven innings to win for the fifth time in his last six decisions. Vapormax Clearance. He was through four perfect innings on 42 pitches. Oakland has matched its best record through 106 games since 1992. "It means weve won a lot of games to this point. Were still in July," manager Bob Melvin said. "You keep trying to pile up the wins, add them up at the end and see where youre at." Jed Lowrie singled home a run and Reddick hit a sacrifice fly in Oaklands four-run first inning. Cespedes led off the eighth with his 16th home run, snapping a career-high 25-game homerless streak for the Home Run Derby champion. "When Im hitting well, I feel like Im contributing my grain of sand, doing my part," Cespedes said. "This team is pretty dangerous when everybody works together." Toronto, last in the AL East, had its six-game road winning streak against the AL West end. Rogers is still searching for some consistency at this stage of the season. "When hes on hes pretty tough, but he can be wild too and this team works you," Gibbons said. "He didnt get away with anything." NOTES: Encarnacion earned AL Player of the Week after batting .520 over seven games with two homers and eight RBIs. ... The Blue Jays dropped to 10-5 vs. the West, losing for only the second time in their last nine to the division. ... The clubs met for the first time this season. Blue Jays DH Adam Lind returned to the starting lineup after missing Sundays finale at Houston with back discomfort. ... Former As OF Rajai Davis wasnt in the lineup for Toronto a day after matching a franchise record with four stolen bases. "I got lucky," he joked. ... Only one day into the Stage 2 Playoffs, weve seen one team dominate its opposition, and another team blow a shocking 3-1 series lead. Cheap Rockies Jerseys China . Lets take a look at the events that transpired.Optic Gaming lost. Now what?Ill be honest. When I suggested in my preview for the Stage 2 Playoffs that Luminosity Gaming would play Optic Gaming tough, I thought it would take a game or two off the Green Wall. I certainly did not anticipate it knocking off Optic Gaming 4-3 on Thursday, rallying back from a 3-1 deficit to earn one of the most surprising victories in recent memory. To its credit, Luminosity certainly earned this victory. After falling behind in the series 3-1, everything looked to be falling in favor of Optic Gaming. With a Round 5 Hardpoint match next, it seemed likely that the dominant team in the Call of Duty World League would cruise through its best game mode. But Luminosity clutched up, gelling as a team at the best possible moment to win the next three rounds. Renato Saints Forza in particular was incredible, first coming up with a tremendous six kill streak to end the Round 5 Hardpoint, then putting together a 38/22 KD (kill/death ratio) in Round 6 Uplink, stymieing the vaunted Optic offense with an array of skilled kills and brilliant positioning.Hes one of the best of all-time, said teammate Jeremy Studyy Astacio. Hes the one that brought the momentum back for our team. He was definitely the MVP of the series.Using that surge from Saints, Luminosity rallied together as a team and put away Optic in the final Search and Destroy, with each member putting together a positive KD (kill/death ratio) in the deciding round.Despite the impossible odds, Luminosity climbed back from the chambers of defeat, securing a spot in the semifinals while simultaneously turning the Stage 2 Playoffs on its head. But if you thought it would be satisfied, think again. We are staying on top of our game and not getting complacent with just one series win, said Michael SpaceLy Schmale. But its dominance against the No. 8 seed quickly turned into a statement game kind of performance, as it earned a convincing 4-0 victory. While most of EnVyUs played well, it was Johnathon John Perez that stood out the most.Pick a round, any round: John made a huge difference. Round 1 Hardpoint: a 29/16 KD. Six of the 10 points in a Round 2 Uplink. An unbelievable play in which he was able to 1 vs. 4 H2K to claim a Game 6 win in Round 3 Search and Destroy. Multiple strategic maneuvers to help his team earn a 5-1 Round 4 Capture the Flag win.In short, John did it all. However, despite posting a combined 76/63 series KD, the EnVyUs slayer seemed only caught up in his mistakes, though few and far between.I could definitely do a little better. There was just a couple of moments where I gave up a kill and we lost the hill because of it, or S&D rounds where I gave up a call and they pushed through, admitted John postgame.Mistakes or not, the EnVyUs team that took the field in the quarterfinals is a formidable foe, certainly one capable of claiming the Stage 2 crown. The real test will come Saturday, as EnVyUs will take on the winner of the Rise Nation vs. Cloud9 match taking place on Friday. Cheap Rockies Jerseys Authentic . VANCOUVER -- Martin Rennie faces more tough lineup decisions when the Vancouver Whitecaps visit the Colorado Rapids in Denver, but hes not complaining. Puma Australia Sale . Unlike in many previous cases this season, the Whitecaps coach can base his decisions Saturday on several options rather than necessity. Rennie has fewer lineup concerns because he does not have to deal with as many injuries as he has in previous weeks, while suspensions and international absences are not factors either. "Its much better than not having choices," said Rennie after a practice this week. "At certain points in the season, weve just not had the choice of who we can play, but now weve got that, and I think it pushes everybody a little bit higher." The Whitecaps (10-7-6) are unbeaten in seven of their past 10 games. Rennie has options up front, in midfield and on the back line as they try to break a tie for second place in the Western Conference with the Rapids (9-7-9), who are unbeaten in five games. Arguably, Rennies most difficult decision will come on the back line as he determines whether to insert veteran central defender Andy OBrien, a commanding presence on the pitch, who has been out since early June with a hamstring injury. OBriens return could break up an effective partnership between Johnny Leveron and Carlyle Mitchell, who appears the most likely to be moved to the bench. The duo has filled in admirably while the Caps have coped with injuries to the back line that are easing but still taking their toll with Brad Rusin (ankle) and captain Jay DeMerit (torn Achilles) out. "Its nice for us to have a little bit of competition, because we havent had that," said Rennie. "For many weeks, we didnt even have a centre back on the bench. So its nice to have to make a decision on who starts, and that will be a difficult decision." Striker Darren Mattocks return from a knee injury that required surgery last month also means that Rennie can rest Kenny Miller, who scored a goal in Scotlands friendly against England in London on Wednesday and has travelled across the Atlantic twice this week. Whatever he decides, Rennie can be confident that replacements will be up for the task. "Obviously, were still just building our team and I think that we want to be improving all the time," he said. "But weve scored more goals this year than weve scored in the whole of last year (and 2011), and theres still a third of the season, so thats a positive sign. ... But were also making saves at the other end, and defending well and starting to possess the ball better. So weve got a lot to build on. "But the last few games dont matter so much. Its just about this next one." Coaches in all sports love internal competition, and Rennie is no exception. While the Whitecaps are much more stable than they were a year ago, when a series of mid-season roster changes led to a summer swoon in the standings, the competition for jobs is much higher. "When I first arrived, there was a lot of building to be done of the team," he said. "There was a lot of adjustments that we had to make. There was a number of players that probably werent quite at the level that we thought. But I think the squads getting stronger. It needs to just keep improving. "But I think you saw when we played Portland away we were missing six or seven key players, and the guys who came in did really well (as the team earned a draw.) So the squads much deeper than it was before, and theres more competition than there was before, and thats what we want." Mattocks said he felt burdened to carry the team offensively last season, but Camilo and Miller, who both scored in a 2-0 win over the San Jose Earthquakes last week, have lightened his load in a difficult season. DeMerit said the battle for jobs is much different than it was when he arrived on the scene with Vancouvers 2011 expansion club. But in order to succeed as a team, players must accept the increased competition and expectations. Midfield still remains somewhat of a question mark. Gershon Koffie, who played a holding midfielder role against San Jose for the first time and performed well, is expected to play the same role in Denver. So the engine-room crew is not expected to change much in Denver. But Rennie has the comfort of knowing that he can make revisions if he wants to. Notes: Rapids midfielder Hendry Thomas is eligible to return after serving a two-game suspension. ... New Colorado designated player Gabriel Torres, a member of Panamas national team, could make his debut. ... The World Club Series is nearly here and three enticing games lie ahead this week. The NRL teams taught their English counterparts a lesson last year by taking the spoils in all three games, but can the Super League boys hit back in 2016?We look back at six classic games from the Super League era to get you in the mood… Three brilliant English wins…St Helens 20-18 Brisbane Broncos, 2001When the concept of the World Club Challenge was re-introduced in 2000, St Helens were first to take up the English baton. But they were humiliated by Melbourne Storm, losing 44-6. Roll on a year, with the Saints defending Super League champions again, and revenge was on the menu. Sean Long converts the last drop kick to seal the win against Brisbane As it turns out, its a dish best served up cold. Brisbane felt the wrath of St Helens in a tense game played out at Boltons Reebok Stadium. The star-studded Broncos, coached, as they are now, by Wayne Bennett, included Darren Lockyer, Lote Tuqiri, Wendell Sailor, Shane Webcke and Petero Civoniceva. Star names then, but they couldnt handle Ian Millwards men.The Broncos did take the lead, Shaun Berrigan burrowing over from dummy half before St Helens replied through Paul Sculthorpe. But it looked bleak for the fans in the Red Vee, Phillip Lee crossing before half time and Brad Meyers after the break to put Brisbane 18-6 up. St Helens drop goal hero Paul Sculthorpe celebrates after beating the Broncos But back came Saints, first through Sean Long, then skipper Chris Joynt. And drop goals from Long and Sculthorpe sealed a nail-biting 20-18 win, ensuring Saints were the first English team to get their hands on the trophy in its new format.Leeds Rhinos 39-32 Canterbury Bulldogs, 2005Leeds first Old Trafford victory in 2004 meant a first World Club Challenge would follow in 2005, and off to Elland Road they went to face the Canterbury Bulldogs. There were plenty of comments coming from the Australian camp before about not taking things too seriously, but Steve Folkes still fielded a team featuring kicking machine Hazem El Masri, Kiwi enforcer Roy Asotasi and an 18-year-old Sonny Bill Williams. What followed was a stunning game of rugby league.Sonny Bill left his mark with a shuddering hit on Leeds winger Marcus Bai, but Leeds hit back on the scoreboard, powering to a 20-point lead by half-time thanks to five first-half tries through Chev Walker, Mark Calderwood, Danny McGuire, Willie Poaching and Rob Burrow.Tries after the break from Richie Mathers and Jamie Jones-Buchanan followed as Leeds seemingly eased towards the trophy, but then the Bulldogs woke up. Jamie Jones-Buchanan of Leeds scores the decisive try as Luke Patten of Canterbury fails to end the threat Four unanswered tries from Jamaal Lolesi (2), El Masri and Tony Grimaldi threatened an incredible comeback, but Kevin Sinfield put paid to that, dropping a goal to seal a seven-point win.St Helens 18-14 Brisbane Broncos, 2007Another World Club Challenge for St Helens, and another classic against the Brisbane Broncos. And it meant even more for Daniel Andersons side as they completed a clean sweep of trophies to add the title of World Champions to their treble already completed in 2006. Sean Long and Keiron Cunningham celebrate Saints victory over the Broncos It was a close affair though, and the Broncos were well prepared too, arriving two weeks early and even playing a warm-up match. And they looked sharp early on, Corey Parkers try and two goals giving them an 8-0 lead. But returning Saints skipper Paul Sculthorpe came off the bench and took control of the game, slotting a tremendous toouchline conversion after Ade Gardners try to give his side a lift before the break. Puma Shoes Australia. But the Saints dream looked over two minutes after half-time, Darius Boyd racing onto Darren Lockyers kick to touch down. But Sculthorpe and Saints werent beaten yet. The captain ran onto a flat pass from Keiron Cunningham to crash over by the posts to put Saints back in it. And they soon led, Sean Longs steepling bomb claimed by Gardner for his second. Sculthorpe banged over the extras and St Helens held on for a famous win.And three stunning Aussie victories…St Helens 0-38 Sydney Roosters, 2003Bradfords win over the Newcastle Knights in 2002 had raised a few questions over how seriously the Aussies were taking the World Club Challenge, but those questions marks were erased by a dominant Roosters side that came to the Reebok Stadium intent on one thing - destroying St Helens. And they certainly managed that. Craig Fitzgibbon of the Sydney Roosters celebrates as Darren Albert and John Stankevich of St Helens look on Three early penalties settled Australian nerves before they cut loose, Craig Fitzgibbon and Adrian Morley, the Englishman starring Down Under, both scoring to make it 18-0 at half-time. And the pounding continued after the break.A controversial score from Todd Byrne really dampened St Helens spirits before Brad Fittler rubbed salt into the wounds with an interception try. And when Todd Payten crossed late on, the Roosters could crow over a stunning 38-0 win.Leeds Rhinos 20-28 Manly Sea Eagles, 2009Leeds were unbeaten in two World Club Challenge appearances but they were taught a lesson when Manly arrived at Elland Road to try and break the Rhinos resistance.
